STREET ART STUDIO

Street Art Studio- Visual Art Applied to Public Art Projects

Mario Mena | ‘Street Art Studio’ program participants explore a variety of street art styles, learning the historical context of diverse street art aesthetics through documentaries, photographs, field trips, and conversations with guest artists. Teens will continue to develop designs for a mural in the Brighton Park neighborhood, which would be completed throughout the session. This design will be based on the environment, community, and a continuing exploration of their identity as artists. Young people will develop their painting skills, and at the end of the session will be able to say they completed a mural!

WATTZ UP! Radio Program

Wattz Up! Radio Program

Charly Garcia, Emmanuel Ramirez, Brian Cruz | ATTENTION ALL MEDIA MOGULS!!! “Wattz Up!” aims to create a media team to venture around Chicago and cover musical and cultural events around the city! You can focus on reporting and interviewing, audio/video producing and recording, or story telling and content curation!

 

This program will meet virtually and in-person.

Yollo Lab ... Art Vending

Silvia Morales | Yollo Lab is a creative studio for young artists interested in beginning their artistic careers. Yollo Lab is equipped with different supplies, printers, paints, all to encourage your experimentation and art making. By the end of the six weeks, you’ll have finished paintings, art prints, stickers, and/or buttons that you will be able to sell at art markets and other vending opportunities. We hope to connect to a local fest in Little Village to give you the opportunity to vend!

FUNKY FOTOS

Funky Foto- A Visual Narrative Through Photography

TBA | Calling all funky photographers! 📸 Funk Camera Flex participants are taught alternative process and experimental photography skills such as camera obscura, cyanotypes, among others. Participants will also learn about digital cameras, advanced photo/video editing software such as Adobe Photoshop and using studio lighting equipment and techniques in their photography. Throughout the session, teens will visit galleries, explore museums, have conversations with guest artists, and develop their own style of capturing images

GRAFFITI MURAL PROJECT

Graffiti Mural Project- History, Culture, Creation of Public Art

Liz ‘Bel’ Reyes | ‘Graffiti Mural Project’ program participants work alongside a local graffiti artist to develop their own graffiti letters and style. Throughout the session, participants will learn about graffiti mural making, watch documentaries and read text related to the art form. Teens will work individually and collaboratively on projects such as canvas paintings; learning and developing graffiti letter styles and techniques through the use of sculpture, markers, acrylics, and spray paint to help produce a graffiti based mural

YOUNG RUN CHI

Young Run Chi

Crystal Rosales | Young Run Chi is a journey of running, entrepreneurship and creativity. 

 
Participants will set running goals and learn techniques to run safely and avoid injury. Sessions will explore intention, branding, community building, marketing & storytelling using content creation, social media best practices and use of photo/video equipment & editing apps. 
Participants will also have the opportunity to run miles in different parts of the city and meet with local run community leaders.

Liz “Bel” Reyes | Learn from local graffiti and mural artist Bel! This is an opportunity to work on your personal art practice while working alongside other young artists. We will experiment with materials, have field trips to galleries and museums, learn from other local artists, and work in collaboration with each other✨
