Chicago Slices Teacher Cohort

file_000-1On Saturday, October 29th, our teacher cohort was introduced to Chicago Slices and what we hope to accomplish as a team. Teachers were introduced to the partnering organizations, went through some video analysis with Media Burn, and participated in a Snapchat activity using the National Museum of Mexican Art’s permanent collection gallery. In the end, the teachers were able to brainstorm possible ideas for class projects – immigration, gender roles, animal rights. We are happy to be working with a diverse group of teachers. If you are a teacher and wish to join this cohort, come to our next PD!file_000-2

We will begin our PD training on November 19th at the National Museum of Mexican Art from 9:30am to 12:30pm. You will receive training in Media Breaker as well as learn about fair use, media literacy, and other tools to use in the classroom. You will receive 3 CPDU hours for your time. Our next PD will be conducted by Jules Beesley, Education Director of The Lamp in NYC. Jules will talk about media literacy, media analysis, and how to use their MediaBreaker Critical Remix Tool.

Chicago Slices is funded byThe Hive Chicago Fund for Connected Learning (Fund) at The Chicago Community Trust.
